August Color Challenge

Hello hello all my quilty friends.  Its another month of this crazy year and my turn again for the Monthly Color Challenge by Patterns by Jen.  This month we are using PINK!  The block inspired by flamingo.  I may love pink just a little, ;).

This block is just great because it is done using strip piecing.  Makes it a nice and easy block to complete with even seams.

I love the finished look of this block, it adds a lot of interest to the other blocks I have already completed.

To find the block pattern instructions check out Jen's blog. ANd to see other variations on the block check out these other bloggers...

Scrappy Plus Block

This block is a small plus block using scrappy low volume (here is just an example of some that I have already made) and bright happy colors.

To start you will need for each block:

2 - 2.5"x 2.5" color block
1 - 2.5"x 6.5" color strip
1 - 2.5"x 2.5" black and white
2 - 2.5"x 6.5" scrappy low volume
4 - 2.5"x 2.5" scrappy low volume

To start, lay out the fabrics like this.

Sew together the 2.5" square low volume and and the color blocks.  Then add them to the center color strip.

Next sew the black and white square to the top low volume strip and the other low volume strip to the plus.

Finally, sew the top strip to the block and you are done. You will have an 8 1/2" block.  It took a half an hour to complete these two blocks, including choosing fabrics, cutting, and sewing. It will take quite a few for a quilt. I better get busy.

Hope you like my blocks!  If you have any questions feel free to ask. I can't wait to see how scrappy this will look when it is done. Thanks!

March Color Challenge

Another month and another great block by Jen at http://www.patternsbyjen.blogspot.com/ ! This months Color is orange and it is one of my favorites, besides pink.

This months instructions uses one of my favorite methods for flying geese, 4 at a time. Fast and simple with no waste.

One trick I have with squaring my half square triangles is I trim them before I press,  This can be done with any ruler, but I used my mini folded corners ruler for this.

And here is this months block! I love the dark pinwheel in the lighter orange.

Check out the other bloggers for this months color and definitely stop by Jen's blog for the pattern and to link up for some great prizes that are every quarter!

Monthly Color Challenge February 2020

Welcome to the Monthly Color Challenge hosted by Jen at http://www.patternsbyjen.blogspot.com/ . I’m super excited to be one of her bloggers this year sharing her great block pattens.

February is aqua for the color. I’m loving the blocks so far. January was yellow.

There are lots of half square triangles in this block, but it looks awesome in the end.

Jen has great instructions on this block so go and check them out. I made sure to press after every step, it helps to get nice sharp points and corners.

Hope you like he block. Go and check out the other bloggers with this months tutorial to see their fabric choices.

I hope you go and link up your blocks with Jen. Not only is it great to see other blocks, but she has awesome sponsors and prizes for every quarter!

Stashbee September

September is here already and I have my blocks from my bee mates.  This month Helen has asked for a fun Irish chain block in specific colors.  I chose red and purple.
